there are no warnings for the time being in lake county. the big story is this thunderstorm here. we are watching just south now. just to the north of new smyrna beach. this is where the strongest wind is. when you see a signature like this, it is not as impressive looking. the upper level wind is so strong. even with the top speed at 13,000 to 15,000 feet, the wind is ripping this apart. it can translate to the surface. let' s look at some of the roads. we are right over i-95. if we have any d.o.t.' s working

just to the south and west of allendale, that is the core of the thunderstorm. winds 30 to 40, maybe 50 miles per hour. i' ll burrow -- s isleboro, we will have to watch this area. you can see isleboro right there. the next shade up from here would be right over i-95. there is week rotation upstairs. as these thunderstorms roll over, they tend to pulse up. isleboro,

concerned with strong, damaging winds. all of this racing off to the east at about 30 to 35 miles per hour. this is the bull' s-eye. this will literally be offshore. ponce inland , wilbur by the sea, you do not have time to get ready for this one. you never want to be up high in a two-story home. you want to be download. all of that stuff could come through the upstairs window. ponce inlet , you will be in the bull' s-eye and the next five to 10 minutes. let' s look at what is going on. there is i-95, the worst of it overhead. more heavy rain, not sure where that is that.

driving up i-95. effect for about 15 to 20 minutes. quick. it is amazing how this is translating to the coast. it is almost on top apopka leon. 45 -- it is almost on top of ponce de leon. south, over towards tina martin drive, towards this is where the strongest of the wind is. it is pounding your area before it begins to move offshore. if you have weather pictures or storm damage in your area, send

we want to show the public what a thunderstorm like this can do. one more time, let' s loop this particular product right there. give folks a sense of how these storms are racing. you can see it is almost already over the open water. eric: the national weather service has not updated anything, which means we do not have damage reports. law enforcement are not seeing anything on the horizon. as tony mentioned, you do not want to be on a high floor. this part of volusia county at ponce inlet, there are many five to seven story condo buildings.

it includes port orange. frankly speaking, ponce inlet seems to be the area. let' s switch back. what we are seeing is very heavy rainfall. three inches an hour. this will not be sitting over wilbur-by-the-sea shores for an hour. it shows you how intense this is. the wind appears to be coming down, but you have week rotation and as you scrape up, storms are

when you scrape up over the coast line, you get this on sure component to the wind. that gives an inherent spin. certainly the meteorologists here at wesh 2 have that concern. as it continues to move offshore, 14,000 feet, it is holding at 14,000 feet. it is not strong or weak. ponce inlet, this thing is already there. you need to make sure to be inside and away from windows. turn it loud enough so when you go into the bathroom or closet, you can hear what we are talking

you can see the bright reds and the magenta. it is straight line winds. with the condo buildings, some of them running five or six stories up, you hear it outside. as it moves outside, it moves out just as quickly. talking about three inches an hour. there is this pocket of energy into northern polk county, extending into southern and central portions.

claremont back to polk city and at lakeland, this will be moving into downtown orlando. could it rotate? the potential is there. we want to give you the first alert as these storms move in. around the walt disney world complex, 12:35. i am not seeing any hail court structure. a good soaker as it moves in. doppler radar shows pretty good wind. this is what we will be watching closely. downtown orlando, our sky camera on the right. we are about to get heavier stuff moving in. our tornado warning, over

inlet , if you are down in new smyrna beach, if there was a tornado or a waterspout, you would be able to see this thing. we are talking about the strongest wind having moved offshore. this storm moving quickly. it does look like it is offshore. >> there is no official confirmation they have discontinued the tornado warning. to the south and west of the ponce inlet area, sometimes, as these lines develop, they develop south and west. that is probably what is going on there. we want to watch wilbur-by-the-sea. once that portion of this gets

tornado warning in effect right now. let' s take a look at daytona beach as speed week is coming up. we all know what can happen. eric showing us a brand-new image. we are going to get some very heavy rain here. big win surge. let' s see if we can pop in a couple more on the south side of this thunderstorm. isleboro, you are not out of the woods, either. there is a secondary max with

we will monitor the tail end of this to make sure. you can see wilbur-by-the-sea. when you get to the darker shade of green, you' re probably looking at two to three inches an hour. there is the latest image, one more time. you can see the thunderstorm racing off to the north and the east. the biggest concern as we are looking at this is the concern for those strong, straight line , damaging winds. combine that with high-rise condominiums, some of the outdoor patio furniture can be flying around.

it has been a very busy morning. tracking these storms throughout the day. tony, do we have the latest? tony: it was just lifted. the worst of the energy is passed. breezy conditions. on top of that, the other thing we will have to watch, this primary line and a good-looking thunderstorm here towards lake county. this will continue to race east.

all of this energy translating to the east-northeast. i want to get to the southern half of this line. a good-looking line of showers and thunderstorms. eric has more on the forecast. >> once these things cool down, we will be cooling down significantly. a quick moving system. one thing of interest, the system has begun to shave off

the threat of these stronger storms is moving out. at this point in time, areas shaded in yellow are the areas we could be talking about. when the rain moves out and the cold front slides through, it will be like a broom knocking the moisture out. wind gusts, we will send it back to you. an update on the forecast. michelle: farther north, snow, not rain is starting to pile up.

by the end of the weekend, some areas, including washington, d.c. could be buried under two feet of snow. jason: the storms are having a huge impact. thousands of flight cancellations leading to a ripple effect. alex villareal spent the morning at the airport, where she saw this firsthand. >> travelers are seeing red in more ways than one. look at all of the red, canceled statuses. they just keep popping up. >> my flight was scheduled for 7:00 a.m. this morning. american airlines shut down. they said they were not flying any flights today. i had to scramble to try to get out of charlotte last night.

she made it out of charlotte before the snowstorm. >> i had to run to the airport and hope i get out. i was blessed that i got the last seat out of charlotte. >> some local residents drove in the other direction to help the affected areas. 12 duke energy employees took off to the carolinas to restore power if it is knocked out. >> everyone came and helped us out, so we would like to return the favor. that is why they' re doing their best to get ahead of it, instead of waiting to see what' s out and what they need, because there are so many issues with the cold weather, you know, the risk of injury and death. >> in all, duke says they have 5000 workers ready to respond, including 1400 from florida.

will come through in the next half hour to 45 minutes. eventually, the 417. hit the attractions. let' s play this one safe. there will be wind energy with this. be extra careful for the next half hour to 45 minutes. we will watch eastern sections of orange county, back towards northern sections of brevard and volusia county. let' s go and get more of the forecast component of what will be happening. by the time we get to 5:00 and 6:00, it is offshore. plans are going to be in great shape. it will be blustery and colder. let' s look at some of these overnight lows.

>> a jury came back with a not guilty verdict in the rape trial for the pedicab driver. he sat quietly through, hugging his attorney following the verdict. a woman accused have of dragging her from his pedicab and raping her two years ago. he admitted they had sex, but it was consensual. he said the woman was the

>> it has been terrible. i have lost three jobs because of it. people bashing me left and right. people do not know me, friends of friends, bashing me over social media. other pedicab drivers saying we do not want you here. >> he could have faced up to 15 years of prison. he thinks the accuser was mad at her boyfriend and took it out on him. >> a woman gets 10 years for hitting a 12-year-old on new year' s eve and driving off. michelle simkins was convicted of leaving the scene of a crash last month about a year after 12-year-old thomas gregory was left with two broken legs and serious internal injuries. thomas had been playing with his friends in front of his home when he was hit and thrown more than 130 feet. police found the car a day later, and traced it to simkins. thomas was in court to watch the sentencing. judge charles roberts could have

and as many as 15. you sped up, you ran over his leg, causing further injury. jason: thomas said after the hearing he still can' t run and jump like he used to, but is hoping to one day fully recover. michelle: we will continue to monitor storms moving through central florida. tony: we are watching this line of thunderstorms. the next half hour to 45 minutes, it will be bumpy here. the heaviest storm appears to be west of sanford. this thunderstorm is moving towards the east-northeast. we are going to watch orange city as this continues to move to the east-northeast.
